NOTICE:  This statement of faith represents the religious, ministerial stand of Genesis Defense and the ordained ministries of James Robert Parsons.  As an ordained minister, James Robert Parsons affirms that all ministerial outreaches, including marriage. follow the standards set forth in this Statement of Faith.

I believe in God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit as the triune God.

I believe that the triune God created the heavens and earth in six literal, 24-hour days, and that He created man on the sixth day.  God created man in His own image.

I believe that God created man and woman in the garden in Eden and brought them together in marriage, setting forth His definition of marriage to be between one man and one woman.  God has expressed that human sexuality is created to naturally be for one sex to have a desire for the opposite sex.  Any other desire, including homosexuality, lesbianism, transgender or bisexuality is clearly sin according to the standard of God.  A Godly marriage ceremony between one man and one woman is a form of worship that honors God’s intended relationship for such a union to mirror the intended relationship that He (the groom) desires to have with His church (the bride).  It is the policy of Genesis Defense and the ministry of James Robert Parsons that any and all ministry oureach, including the performing of marriages, is restricted to religious purposes and standards expressed in this Statement of Faith and the Holy Bible.
I believe in the fall of man in the garden of Eden, which ushered in an age of sin, which brought, violence, bloodshed, decay and death.  Before man’s willful act of rebellion, there was no violence, bloodshed, decay or death.  This act spiritually seperated man from God and brought about the need for man’s redemption to God by the shedding of blood for forgiveness of sin as the only possible solution.

I believe that, because the world had turned absolutely wicked, God judged the entire earth with a worldwide flood that necessitated Noah’s building of an ark to save himself, his family, and all the kinds of land animals and birds.

I believe that Jesus Christ was born of the virgin Mary, fulfilling the prophecies of the Old Testament.  With Mary not having “known a man,” her pregnancy was the result of a miraculous act of the Holy Spirit making her become the mother of the Son of God.  Through this act, Jesus Christ was the “Second Adam” who would be the promised lamb who would take away the sin of the world.

I believe that Jesus Christ is the only path to salvation by his shed blood and death on the cross.  He was dead, buried and rose again on the third day to offer salvation from sin, justification and sanctification before God, and offer eternal life in heaven.   By being born of a woman, He proved that He was a man.  By being crucified, Jesus proved that He was the Lamb of God who came to take away the sins of the world.  By being raised again, He proved He was God.

I believe the Holy Spirit baptizes the believer into the family of God at the moment of salvation.  The Holy Spirit indwells the believer, seals the believer until the day of redemption, and will fill (or control) the believer, if allowed to do so.  The Holy Spirit convicts, chastises, illuminates and stirs up the believer.  The Holy Spirit will also pray for the believer when he does not know how to pray.

I believe the second coming of Jesus in two “phases’:  the going up and the coming down.  The first phase will take place before the Seven-Year Tribulation when Jesus appears in the clouds, when the dead in Christ will rise first and the rest of us will be caught up with him in the air, otherwise known as the rapture.  The second phase of Jesus’ second coming will be at the battle of Armageddon when He returns to earth with the believers to end the battle.  Satan, the beast, all Satan’s angels, along with death and hell will be cast into the lake of fire and God will create the New Heaven and the New Earth.

I believe that the canon of the Holy Bible is the verbal, plenary, inspired Word of God and is inerrant in the original languages.  The Holy Bible is the final authority on all matters which it addresses.  True, observable, testable, repeatable science will always point to the Holy Bible and not point away from it.
