CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS: CHARITY

By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.I John 4:9-10
There is a story of a Grinch with a heart two sizes too small, whose focus in life was to hate Christmas with his all! He is a figure of hating Christmas which is so engrained in our culture that anyone who shows any lack of love of the season is called a “Grinch.” As much as being described as a Scrooge is not a compliment, it seems that being called a Grinch is even worse.
If the Grinch is a symbol of hate, then God is many times more an image of love. His love was shown to us when God sent His only Son to be our sacrifice for sin. While we were yet sinners, God proved His love for us by crushing His Son on the cross for our benefit. What an image of love as opposed to an image of hate!
It is our job as disciples to do just like Jesus did; The Creator denied Himself and became the creation, sharing love and light, and sacrificed Himself. In like manner, people who want to be true disciples should deny themselves, and give up their lives to follow Him by spreading the good news. We should share love and not spew hatred.
For many, it is a time to let our hearts grow three sizes, and show the world the light of His love.
